Vision Maker Media Elects Dr. Phil Hoffman, Ball State Assistant Dean and GM of Ball State Public Media, to Board

Dr. Phil Hoffman, assistant dean of Media and general manager for Ball State Public Media at Ball State University, has been elected to serve a three-year term on the board of Vision Maker Media. The nonprofit organization is a premier source for quality American Indian and Alaska Native educational videos.

All aspects of Vision Maker’s programs encourage the involvement of young people to learn more about careers in the media and to become the next generation of storytellers. Vision Maker Media envisions a world changed and healed by understanding Native stories and the public conversations they generate.

A veteran public media leader, Dr. Hoffman joined Ball State in January 2022. His media career began in Akron, Ohio, at WKDD and WAKR. He also worked as a reporter and producer at WAKC TV in Akron and led 91.3 The Summit in Akron for nearly a decade.

Dr. Hoffman has served on the boards of Florida Public Media, Indiana Public Broadcasting Stations, and the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA), as well at the Central Great Lakes and Mid-American Region National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS).

With funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), Vision Maker Media's Public Media Content Fund awards support to projects with a Native American theme and significant Native involvement that ultimately benefits the entire public media community. Vision Maker Media, a nonprofit 501(c)(3), empowers and engages Native People to tell stories.
