Community Sing returns Sunday
The Muncie Community Sing returns to a live, in-person event for the first time in three years this Sunday at the Muncie Fieldhouse. This is the 86th year for the annual seasonal show that brings together the musical talents of students throughout Muncie Community Schools and offers performances from the Hillcroft Choir and Chime Ensemble as well.
“It’s a shame that the pandemic kept us limited to virtual performances the last two years, but we’re excited to have this annual traditional gathering back in the Fieldhouse, and I know the kids will do a fantastic job,” MCS Associate Superintendent and event organizer Dr. Chuck Reynolds said.
The Community Sing is a free event, open to the public, with seating on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors will open at 2 p.m. and the program begins at 2:45 p.m. Attendees can expect to hear holiday favorites like “Silver and Gold,” “Winter Wonderland” and “My Favorite Things.” They will also be counted on to participate in sing-alongs during “Jingle Bells,” “Feliz Navidad” and “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.”
The Muncie Central High cheerleaders and Color Guard will also perform. WLBC Radio’s Steve Lindell will emcee. An edited version of the Community Sing will be broadcast on WIPB-TV on Christmas Day at 11 a.m.
