Rep. Victoria Spartz, who represents Indiana’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, has used her social media platform to announce and promote a series of policy discussions focused on FISA reauthorization and surveillance issues.

On April 14, 2026, Spartz posted an invitation for constituents to join a live discussion scheduled for Thursday at 8 PM ET, featuring former Congressman Matt Gaetz and FISA policy expert Jake Laperruque: “Join Rep. Spartz LIVE this Thursday at 8 PM ET for our second in the series of X Spaces policy discussions: ‘FISA Reauthorization: How Much Surveillance Is Too Much?’ with SPECIAL GUESTS: Former Congressman Matt Gaetz @mattgaetz & @CenDemTech FISA policy expert @JakeLaperruque.”

The following day, April 15, Spartz commented on the importance of protecting Americans’ Fourth Amendment rights by suggesting changes to how the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) Court reviews targeting procedures under Section 702. She wrote: “To protect 4th Am. rights of Americans, the FISA Court should sample actual procedures performed – not just review the design of targeting procedures – to make sure that targeting is performed as prescribed and that Sec. 702 is not used to improperly collect on U.S. persons.”

On April 16, Spartz issued another reminder about her upcoming event: “Reminder: Join Rep. Spartz LIVE tonight on X Spaces at 8 PM ET for a policy discussion: ‘FISA Reauthorization: How Much Surveillance Is Too Much?'”

Victoria Spartz has represented Indiana’s 5th District in Congress since replacing Susan Brooks in 2021 and previously served in the Indiana Senate from 2017 to 2020. She was born in Nosivka, Ukraine in 1978 and currently resides in Noblesville. Spartz earned a bachelor’s degree from Kyiv National Economic University in 2000.
