Victoria Spartz, who currently serves in the U.S. Congress representing Indiana’s 5th district, has recently expressed concerns and opinions on government spending and oversight through a series of posts on her official social media account. Spartz, born in Nosivka, Ukraine, and a graduate of Kyiv National Economic University, has been a member of Congress since 2021.
On April 30, 2025, Spartz aligned with Senator Johnson on the necessity of achieving significant fiscal savings. She posted, "I agree with Sen. Johnson that we should be able to get to $5T of savings over 10 years, since COVID was used to increase total spending $2.5T per year or $25T over 10 years." Spartz criticized the Senate's budget instructions that aimed to save a mere "$4B over 10 years while we are borrowing $4.5B per day."
In a post dated May 2, 2025, Rep. Spartz advocated for restructuring the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). "I would also support replacing the PCAOB (Public Company Accounting Oversight Board) with the GAOB (Government Auditing Oversight Board) to improve quality of government and NGO audits (non-governmental organizations funded by government - oxymoron)." She called for enhanced scrutiny, concluding the post with, "Let’s audit the government!"
On May 3, 2025, Spartz highlighted issues of potential fiscal misuse concerning disability enrollments and government spending, quoting sentiments regarding “kickbacks and discriminatory practices against disabled MA enrollees … hundreds of millions…” and a presumably disproportionate expense for a website: “15M/year for a [web]site that drives 15 enrollments per year … CMS will surely never figure that one out. . . . Luckily the govt are generally morons.”
Victoria Spartz has been vocal about financial accountability, aiming to address and restructure oversight bodies to enhance the quality and efficiency of audits, especially for government-funded entities.
