Rep. Victoria Spartz, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Indiana’s 5th district, has raised concerns on social media regarding Congressional oversight of federal spending and the need for structural reforms within the legislative institution.

On September 4, 2025, Spartz stated in a post, "What this report shows is that over 80% of total spending is not even looked at by Congress. If we also include all tax expenditures, such as credits, that number rises to over 85%." She further addressed the lack of progress in Congressional reforms, writing later that day, "I requested this report in the last Congress, but not much progress has been made in this one. Our institution is in real need of serious structural reforms. We are writing trillions of blank checks while the national debt has climbed to very dangerous levels."

The following day, Spartz highlighted her engagement with local health care stakeholders in Indiana's 5th district. On September 5, she posted, "Today, Rep. Spartz met with #IN05 health care stakeholders to share updates from DC and hear directly from those on the front lines about reforms needed to increase transparency, lower prices, and strengthen competition for value."

Victoria Spartz has represented Indiana’s 5th District in Congress since 2021 after succeeding Susan Brooks and previously served in the Indiana Senate from 2017 to 2020. Born in Nosivka, Ukraine in 1978 and currently residing in Noblesville, Spartz graduated from Kyiv National Economic University with a bachelor’s degree in economics.
