U.S. Representative Victoria Spartz, who represents Indiana’s 5th district in Congress, used her social media platform on August 7 and 8, 2025, to criticize what she described as partisan inconsistencies in how congressional districts are drawn and represented across several states.

On August 7, Spartz posted: "It seems hypocritical that Democrats often complain about wanting to make all congressional districts more competitive - not just a few - yet they do not want all nine in Indiana to become more competitive and more representative of our statewide electorate."

The following day, she shared further commentary: “Democrats gave the GOP an excuse to go nuclear in a war in which the left lacks fissile material… They’ve escalated a war in which the Republicans have a structural advantage.” (August 8).

Also on August 8, Spartz highlighted examples from other states: “Consider New Jersey, where Democrats control nine of 12 congressional seats, despite 45% of House votes going to Republicans. Illinois: 14 of 17 seats, though Democrats won but 53% of the vote. Oregon: five of six seats, despite a GOP vote of 42%. Or Ms. Healey’s Massachusetts,”

Victoria Spartz has served as U.S. Representative for Indiana's 5th District since replacing Susan Brooks in 2021 and previously served in the Indiana Senate from 2017 to 2020. She was born in Nosivka, Ukraine, holds a degree from Kyiv National Economic University earned in 2000, and currently resides in Noblesville.
